Link Exchanges
Hello, Elam here once again-
From the last time we talked, I 8 main areas on how to build back links. I am not sure if I made my point very clear in my last blog post, I am pretty sure I did, but I stressed on back links, back links, AND back links! The only reason I stressed on those points, which is pretty much the same point, is to get backlinks is for a variety of reasons. We could write a whole article on why back links is important. But, the main important thing is:
In order to move your website up in rank with the search engines, mainly Google, is show them that you links pointing back to your site. That’s correcto! The more links you show google you have to your website, the more they find your website important. It is pretty much like a security deposit if you would like to think of it that way. Or if you want to think of it in another way, we can take an example of it being as “proof of income” for your website your you apply for a loan from a bank for example.
However, Google is smart. They won’t just boost your website’s rank just because you have X amount of back links to your website. They will review it on from what websites your back links come from, what page rank are the back links that your getting from those websites, and if the websites you are getting back links from has any relevancy to your content(s) on your webpages.
So we left on the last time on the 8 different ways of getting these high page rank quality relevancy back links for your website. And, the first that I mentioned was Link Exchanges.
So What Is A Link Exchange?
A Link Exchange is basically getting a link from another website owner in exchange for a link. So let’s take an example your friend has a website about dog training. Now his website is already established for years and in the eyes of google, his website has a page rank of 6. Now your the new guy in the street. You have fresh content but your website is new. It has been a few months since it has been established. Now to show Google that your website is important, you can get involved in a link exchange with your friend with the established dog training website.
You can talk to your friend and ask him if he can post your website on his website’s “links” page or any page he wishes to refer his readers to your website and you would do the same for him. Now since his website has a high page rank and yours doesn’t, you need him linking you more than he needs you linking him. So he may take advantage of you by charging you a small fee. Or, if he’s a really good friend of yours he would do it, free of charge.
Once you get a link from his established dog training website, Google will see your website with a bit of more importance. They will see that your website is about dog training and has a link to and back another dog training website (relevant to your website) that has a high page rank. Google will then be like, “Holy smokes, we have more respect for this website now.”
Now I am not saying that just by doing this you will move to the first page of Google. Oh no no no. But in order to gain rank and trust with Google, you would need to build back links. And of those ways is through link exchange.
Depending on your niche’s competition, that will determine how long it will take you to build your rank up to the first page in Google. If you are really thinking about dog training, think again because the competition is huge in that market and to get to the first page of Google you may need a million amount of back links pointing to your site to get you close to everyone else. Dog training was just an example niche I used to make the concept of link exchanges, more understandable
I hope this blog posts summed up in the simplest way as possible on what is a link exchange. My next blog post I will talk about the second way I mentioned on how to build a back link from my last post which is:
Link Baiting.
Talk to you soon, and I hope you enjoyed this post just as much I’ve enjoyed writing it.
